Word It For June

Remember when you were, say, ten? That is what I was doing this weekend when my cousin was here for a visit. One day, who knows why we sought vengeance on my brothers and decided to take matters into our own hands.

We went into their room and managed to infuriate them by mixing everything that could be mixed. Tapes where placed in the wrong boxes, dirty laundry folded and placed in the closet, toothbrushes misplaced, pillows replaced, curtains flipped… you get the jist. Needless to say, our prank was not received graciously and our vengeance was (very) short lived.

Later that night as I lay in bed I recalled the mother of all pranks, and I was the receiver. I was living in Albuquerque at the time, and was doing something in the kitchen when my little brother and his cute skinny and awkward friend walked in with a sack. They told me they had found a kitten and after catching it were trying to figure out how to keep it (I am a sucker for cats). Wanting to see the kitten, they opened the sack so that I could take a look and go gaga for a few minutes. Screams and blows followed and two kids with a sack ran as fast as their sneakers could take them and as far away as possible. There was no kitten. There was a gargantuan boa constrictor (belonging to a cute skinny and awkward little kid). I am extremely terrified of snakes…

Prank is the Word It for June.

With that said, please read the specifications for submittal, and go create based on prank.
Word-its will be updated on a weekly basis.

byrony,

sorry to hear about the snake prank!! I was also a snake prank victim when I was a kid. My buddy loved snakes and we would always find them while fishing around the ponds. Needless to say, he would catch them! Once, we ran across a snake pit in a huge retention area. While he was messing around them I continued to fish. When he caught up to me he threw two black snakes on my back!!! He thought it was hillarious while I was screaming for my life!!! Did I mention, I too, hate snakes!!!

this should be fun.....prank......hmmmmmmm

hmm, two bananas by different people, and then two by Von (no offense Von, I like em!)? Is there really such a paucity of submissions that there needs to be repeats of subject matter and even designers?

Theo, seeing that each designer is working on his/her own it does not surprise me that we have some repeated ideas (this is not the first time, nor the last I am sure). On the other hand, repeat designers are not a problem at all. Word It is open to all at all times, and if somebody want to send us artwork every week, that is perfectly fine.

Fair enough. And again, I in no way want to sound like I'm critiquing anyone's particular Word It, I liked em! I'm just surprised, since I know that there are only 28 displayed each month, and I assume you are flooded with many more than that, and therefore many are rejected, which makes a repeat of a specific image unexpected.

Actually, that is not the case. We post every single Word It that is submitted (unless it is highly offensive or in bad taste), which sometimes means we have 70+ images posted.

I liked em!

Glad you like em.

Theo, I also think you are talking about the Word Its that rotate on the home page. We have a maximum of 10 Word Its in rotation each week. We don't do more because it bogs down the system.

And our philosophy with Word Its is equal to that of our comments: Anyone cam comment (or submit Word Its) as many times as they want, and they can say (or submit) whatever they want as long as it's not offensive.
