Word It for November
Speak Up Announcements

Many of us have been there. We mentioned it, we debated about it, we found ourselves over it. But really, did we?

For that which is based on the past, the befores that constantly inform what shall be. That which is next can never happen without the yesterdays and todays. And so it is today, that I seek to know — in the same way thousands of designers did a couple of weeks ago — what is next?

Next is the Word It for November.

With that said, please read the specifications for submittal, where we tell you what kind of file we need, the size requirements*, naming conventions and how to provide us with your desired linkage**.

Word-its will be updated on a weekly basis.

* 5x5”, 300 dpi, CMYK, jpg/tiff/ai

Ironically, I want to click on "next" to see page 2 of the latest Word-its, but there is no link.

Laura, that is because before today there were no more than 10 submissions. Now you can go up to page 3 with the latest update. Enjoy!

Hi Byrony. I should have added something to show that I was just being sarcastic. (o:

It was just an ironic feeling that "next" coudn't be clicked. But with 13 new "nexts" I see that you've "fixed" that!

What's up with the Craig Frazier rip-off? Just because you add a tiny "inspired by" line doesn't mean you can do it. Perhaps I just don't get the allusion.

Anyone care to explain?

JonSel,

Perhaps it's far better for Laura to make a comment herself, but this Wordit thing is a lighthearted game, not a f#@king big deal. People try out stuff in a non-competitive way.

Calling out someone for derivatives on something that wasn't all that original is just rude. Are you handing out permission slips or something?
Give the lady a break.

I agree that Laura should make a comment herself; I'd love to know her reasoning behind her submission.

What saddens me is that Word-It is a forum for absolute creative freedom, yet someone felt the need to, what I feel, misappropriate someone else's idea and somewhat noteworthy graphic style. Again, I'm completely open to hearing the reasoning and how the two are related.

There's another submission where the Next logo type was replaced by "RaND". This is a clear parody as Rand designed that logo. I get the joke. With the Frazier parody, I just don't get it.

In keeping with this theme, I guess I'll appropriate a saying from our times: I saw something, so I said something.
