Women of Design, Now Available
Speak Up Announcements

Bryony and I are extremely proud to announce that Women Of Design: Influence and Inspiration from the Original Trailblazers to the New Groundbreakers, a book we worked on for almost a year, is now officially on the market. An arduous but fulfilling task that celebrates the work of some of the best designers, writers, editors and thinkers in the world of graphic design. We have put together a comprehensive one-page preview web site that you can visit for an overview of the book or you can skip the formalities and purchase it from Amazon. We hope you enjoy it, whether you buy it, borrow it, flip through it at the bookstore, or even if you just use the "Look Inside" feature at Amazon.

Looks like a great book. Saw it this weekend in a prominent design section position at the MOMA store.

Great work! I'm happily noticing more and more designers and design leaders acting to ensure the true diversity of our industry is recognized. Congratulations on making a big step in this direction.
The book looks like a great read and reference. I can't wait to pick up a copy!

It's been a long time coming. Recognition is a good sign that finally the history of Design includes the women who've been there all along.

My mother was the first art director and illustrator I ever knew. Like so many others who had working careers (juggled with motherhood) through the 40's, 50's, 60's and upwards til now.
They did their best.

It's great, and timely that you created this book.

I don't have the book in hand so my questions come from online sources.

Since the question of quotes on the back of the book being all from guys have been covered I won't mention it myself b/c it seemed weird to me. But along the same line I do take issue with the diagram of influence and inspiration. Are you suggesting that those women were only influenced by other women, and they in turn weren't influenced by men and inturned influenced men in what they do? And that can't be collaboration of equals?

Congratulations on this big achievement. It's an engrossing read/pore, with a nice balance of well-known women and those deserving of more recognition.

(My wife practically read it in one sitting, then sent it to her designer colleague the next day. Guess we'll have to buy another one.)
