State and Lake

Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Google+ Share to Twitter

Designed by Boy Burns Barn.

Located at the corner of State and Lake streets in Chicago, the cornered logo of this gastro pub serves as the backdrop — burned into wood panels that sandwich the menu held by a rubber band — for the very simply designed menus. Keeping the layout simple allows for the materials and finishes of the menu to make the lasting impression. Also: elk.

Joseph Vigor Restaurant Branding’s comment is:

This is a great menu from start to finish. The only gripe I have would be the elk imagery under the typography. It may be a bit difficult to read under dimmer lighting. This is very well done though. I still don't understand how the menu is held in place though. Well done.

Armin Vit’s comment is:

Joseph, I believe it's two wood panels, one with a hole cut out of it, and the paper is slipped in between. The rubber band would hold the two pieces of wood together allowing for changes.
