This is the result of a contest organize by the Commune di Genova (City of Genoa). A quick description from Wikipedia: “Genoa is the capital of Liguria and the sixth largest city in Italy, with a population of 604,848 within its administrative limits on a land area of 243.6 km2 (94 sq mi). Genoa is one of Europe’s largest cities on the Mediterranean Sea and the largest seaport in Italy. Genoa has been nicknamed la Superba (“the Proud one”) due to its glorious past and impressive landmarks.”

"We thought we would not identify the city with a logo he regained a monument or an appearance only, thus revealing what is already known or visible, but we simply wrote his name without revealing it completely, leaving some parts hidden, invisible, only gaze sensitive viewer can complete. Why Genoa is revealed in small steps, and when it does it is always more than you suggest. Genoa is MORE THAN THIS."

Italy has been on a string of contests lately that have yielded fairly decent results — see Bologna and Firenze — and this one is not bad either. It's definitely better in the stacked version than the horizontal. The concept could apply to any city I guess, but the character count and specific letters in Genova lend themselves well to this solution. The "MORE THAN THIS" type is kind of annoying though, not really related.
