About
(Est. 2018) “The Sociéte Québécoise du Cannabis (Quebec Cannabis Society in English, SQDC for short) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ), which is managed separately. Its mission is to ensure the retail sale of cannabis from a health protection perspective, in order to integrate consumers into the legal cannabis market and to maintain them, without promoting the use of cannabis. Its mandate is social and its priority is the health and safety of its customers. Its profits will be donated to the Fund for Prevention and Research on Cannabis.”

Opinion
Not a whole lot of info or visuals on this one but what little is out there is good enough for what will probably be an entertaining stream of comments. I guess the idea is good, of building an abstract cannabis leaf into a “Q”… come to think of it, I’m not sure it is a good idea. The execution feels so stiff and forced with the super straight line coming out of the leaf. The overall shape looks like a magnifying glass more than a “Q” and the abstracted leaf looks more like an asterisk than a leaf and, well, asterisks on their own look like something someone in the comments will point out. The “SQDC” type is fine I guess; bland but fine. The Facebook banner hints at possibly some interesting use of serif typography but what that amounts to, remains to be seen.
Thanks to Gabriel Parent-Nadon for the tip.
