Hand Lettering (Jill Sabato)

In this mailer for Travel + Leisure magazine, promoting the second annual Food issue, the borders of the 50 states of United States are replaced by the more tastier local foods, typical of each state or city. Perhaps not GPS-accurate, but things like coffee (Washingotn) and BBQ (Texas and Tennessee) seem to be in the right place. Hand-lettered, or more like Hand-scribbled, by Jill Sabato, the oversize mailer comes in two parts: the first, the already mentioned map, which is printed on a lovely Tiffany-blue colored paper, with white and black ink; and a second white sheet, printed matching blue and black. But, there is no denying the star attraction is the map… just missing is Alaska, and its moose and caribou.
