Back in February I got an e-mail from New York-based Chandelier Creative asking if they could send their holiday pop-up card. I said yes, of course, thinking I would get a cute little card with a simple pop-up. A few weeks later when the package arrived, all 15-by-8-inches of it, my expectations were flat-out popped. (Sorry, trying to work in a pun). The pop-up card is big and heavy and luscious and when you open it it builds into a full-on house with stuff that dangles and thrusts outward. It’s actually pretty insane and fun. Yes, we are all wondering how much this costs… if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

This elaborate pop-up design depicts the Cahndelier Creative office and staff. Founder and creative director Richard Christiansen is seen hanging from a chandelier in the center card while some of his inspirations used in client work such as Joan Collins (Dynasty Barbie, Mattel), and the cast of Glee (Glee accessory collection, Claire’s) make cameo appearances. The card also serves as a promotional piece. Recipients can remove the die-cut moon from the illustrated skyline and view a portfolio of current work from 2010.

Other highlights include:
- Pull tabs that open doors to reveal other characters
- Multiple printing techniques and materials such as metallic foil and die cuts
- Card is contained in a neon pink cake box with interior spot-varnished filigree pattern
