I’m so impressed with these. They’re appropriately abstracted, endlessly eye-catching, and impressively executed. There’s a sense of belonging strongly embedded here; it’s obvious that this piece is rich with admiration of not only an amazing writer, but of the city itself.

“Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning.”

In 2010 I started a project called RicharDaily. I challenged myself to make one thing every day for a year. Out of that project I made a series based on “Chicago” by Carl Sandburg.

In the first part of 2011 I turned this idea into a full series. The first variation of this is on display in a group exhibition called Typeforce.

For Typeforce I had two of the five posters printed. Then I started a Kickstarter project that is running simultaneously with the exhibition. Hopefully by the end of this month I’ll be able to have all 5 screenprinted. And with nearly 50% pledged in the first 4 days “Ode to Carl” is doing really well!
