Eric Nyffeler created these anthropomorphic art prints of birds playing with human objects as an homage to Charley Harper, and they serve as very nice promotion pieces to boot.

Project Description

I've always loved the sight of a bird interacting with human objects, whether it was a robin weaving a ribbon into a nest or a crow playing with a shiny trinket. When it came time to release a new series of small art prints, I knew exactly what I wanted to draw. Each illustration shows a different bird (not necessarily based on any real species) playing with a collection of human miscellany. While these prints are obviously in debt to the master of geometric animals, Charley Harper (one of my all time favorite illustrators), hopefully I was able to work enough of my own textures and brush work to make them my own!

Production Lesson(s)

Make sure to check that the paper color you want to use even exists! It's really disheartening to complete an illustration and then find that no one makes paper in a shade even remotely close to what you had intended. If anyone from French Papers is reading this, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE release a salmon paper!”
