Project Description

After working with Dot Graphics a few times for our printing needs, the LA-based printing company came to us for some help. We were asked to create a self-shipping marketing kit that would showcase the different kinds of media, inks, varnishes and finishing techniques that the company offered. The kit consists of two brochures, which are filled to the brim with special effects including embossing, die cut, spot UV, foil stamps, drilling and more. The brochures are held securely by a printed gatefold board tray, which features the vibrant red shade that serves as the company's new primary color. All of these are contained inside a specially designed corrugated box, which is wrapped in custom-printed holographic foil paper. Ink and masks were used strategically to provide a unique and eye-catching pattern, which reflects light in all colors. The box makes a strong first impression when it's shipped to new or returning customers in the mail -- when they open the kit, they're treated to fresh new ideas that showcase just what Dot can really do.

Production Lesson(s)

As a designer, it's important to me that the final product matches my initial vision. We all know, even the best of printers like to change things on press or don't read instructions, even if they're clearly labeled, so it's really crucial to hound your printer, ask questions and demand press checks. ”
