Bright colors and bright patters and a nice surprise for a more traditional company that often seems serious and quiet. Lucky for us they took this to the next level and silkscreened both neon colors and a spot gloss UV varnish to add a tactile quality for extra pop.

Project Description

Bergdorf Goodman commissioned a unique shopping bag design to commemorate their 111th Anniversary in 2012.  Chandelier created four different neon designs printed over the Bergdorf Goodman's existing and iconic purple shopping bags.

Production Lesson(s)

Some of the best design elements of this project are based on clever tricks that give greater depth or feel, or contrast to the printed image.  In the case of the Bergdorf Goodman 111th Anniversary bags, our brains interpret what we see as a color contrast between the neon ink and the lavender background, but what we are actually seeing is the contrast of color, of transparent vs. opaque ink, and the gloss/matte contrast of the UV coating.  These work together in a subtle way to give greater depth to the image.”
