These invitations to visit Greenville, South Carolina, go all out to entice a select group of 70 people to give the city and their Euphoria food and music festival a try. Each box presents a special itinerary along with the reusable wine box and place card holders. It would be hard to turn down a trip if someone put this much effort into inviting you along.

Project Description

Our client, VisitGreenvilleSC, wanted to show about 70 special individuals how amazing Greenville, SC was. They knew that once they experienced it for themselves, they would bring more people with them when they came again. A trip was set up for these lucky few that included attendance at some key events during the acclaimed Euphoria Food and music festival, some exploring around the beautiful downtown, and the option to drive one of the cars around the track at the BMW performance center. They asked Brains on Fire to create an invitation that would stop someone in their tracks when they received it in the mail—making it so they just HAD to come. The "we've saved a seat for you" idea came from the focus around the Euphoria event. Each fork card represents a day that the attendees would be in Greenville and a description of that day's itinerary is printed on the inside. The wine box and forks (place card holders) are reusable and we even included some place cards for future use by the recipients (bites of wisdom). So, if they decided to come (or not) they'd have a nice memento of Greenville for years to come.

Production Lesson(s)

This project was an organizational feat, and a challenge to pull off.

We decided to go with letterpress printing since it would convey the sense of casual elegance we were trying to portray—but that was the easy part. Sourcing the wood boxes, shipping boxes, the forks, the grass, paper, string, wax, and seal needed a team of three people working on it nonstop for 2 weeks. Putting everything together required a production line that Henry Ford would've been proud of. If we did this again, we'd probably try to schedule the production so it did not fall on the fourth of July holiday as many potential vendors were closed—ah well, you live, you learn :)

All in all, a great experience. It helps to have awesome people on the team.”
