The Half and Half

Tim Gough started this uplifting and colorful homage to his favorite band as a hands-on, get away from the computer project, but eventually took it into photoshop to finish it off. These artistic representations of the fab four in their Sgt. Peppers regalia are a great representation of the psychedelically whimsical carnival of sounds found on the band’s eighth studio album.

Project Description

I wanted to create a print of one of my favorite bands. These portraits started as torn paper collages as a way to zone out and not work on the computer. After i got to a point were it was getting too detailed to keep tearing paper, I brought them into photoshop to finish them off and add texture.

Production Lesson(s)

Creating an illustration from torn paper was challenging and unpredictable. It gave me restrictions to work around, there was no command +Z to fall back on and I think that made the piece stronger. It also gave the over all piece textures and details that I could not have faked or recreated on the computer.”
