Project Description

The New Products Spring 2014 Newspaper is a printed piece announcing Dunlop's latest releases in guitar accessories. It was printed for the 2014 NAMM Trade Show. The newspaper is designed to serve as "Gear Porn," featuring nothing more than dynamic, aggressively lit photos coupled with product names to incite the viewer's curiosity about forthcoming Dunlop product releases. The poster's visual style marks an evolutionary step towards an aesthetic of "raw elegance." Taking cues from high fashion brands, Dunlop is re-shaping the visual landscape of quality guitar accessories:wet, glossy products with bright highlights casting sharp shadows on reclaimed whitewashed wood surfaces.

Production Lesson(s)

In producing a newsprint piece- it's important to realize the level of show-thru when printing front and back. The next time around we might produce a more visually dense composition that's more forgiving. Not a deal breaker, just a lil' surprise for us!”
