Project Description

Four Minutes to Midnight is an experimental literary arts zine that works at the intersection of typography, poetics and radical politics. The thirteenth issue features visual art, writing and design from a diverse host of local and international contributors, including the Dutch design studio Experimental Jetset, performance artist and author Jacob Wren, Montreal photographer Vo Thien Viet, Toronto writer and editor Hilary Rexe, and the Montreal artist and collagist Madame Gilles.

Production Lesson(s)

The amount of different stocks and inks used, and how it was spread through the issue, required some complex collating. Good communication and proofing with the printers was key. Given a tight deadline, I settled with a thinner paper for the photographic reproductions. The show through on offset is far greater than on digital proofs”
