Minus-8 Catalog

Production Method

Sturdy, elegant… bad-ass. That’s what Minus-8 watches look like and that’s the expectation this pitch-black catalog sets up from the get-go. The debossed black on black logo on the cover tiptoes on the edge and adds to the already tactile goodness of Touche. Inside, the printing looks flawless and the product photography shot against black backgrounds ensures you don’t forget how bad-ass these watches are. As a bonus, the catalog comes in a crisp, metallic polybag with a smooth-looking label in a techie color palette. Definitely want to watch me some more of this.

Project Description

Wearing a Minus-8 watch is a highly technical, yet personal experience. With pristine details and confident styling, each timepiece is an engineered work of art. By creating a catalog with the same characteristics, Landscape extended the Minus-8 design language into a hermetically sealed expression of the brand. Utilizing a unique combination of substrates and processes, each catalog is intended to create a personal and multi-sensory experience for the viewer.

Production Lesson(s)

R&D. Material choice played a key role in the final piece. We looked at a broad range of sample papers and built quite a few complete prototypes of both the book and packaging. These were both hugely valuable in understanding the physicality of the final piece as well as the 'un-bagging' experience. ”
