Project Description

We wanted to announce our wedding in a fun way (!) and set the tone for a sweet party.

The typography is minimal to make room for pops of color and whimsical icons. The polka dot announcement that holds all the pieces, unfolds to reveal a giant exclamation point. We were aiming for unique and exciting without getting too clever or costly.

Production Lesson(s)

Metallic inks do not tint well on uncoated paper. I created very detailed icons and a background pattern that were meant to add a subtle detail, but just turned out muddled while on press.

I wish I had paid more attention during pre-press and the way our printer had planned to process each piece. There was a subtle pink gradient that covered the entire back portion of the folded announcement, but they knocked out everything that would later be filled with the copper foil stamp. The registration wasn't always perfect, and when it was off it was super obvious.”
