Project Description

Brew Nord is a poster designed as a part of the third annual Posters & Pints show. Posters & Pints is a poster show centered around beer and brewing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Held in the Uppercut Boxing Gym, the show features 16 Minneapolis and St. Paul breweries and 32 artists. Proceeds from the show went to Art Buddies, a non-profit program which enables inner city youth to be paired up with a designer or artist mentor, participating in regular events and creating art.

This poster is centered around Northeast Minneapolis' vibrant and eclectic brewing scene. It was printed in an edition of 50 by Ambient Inks.

Production Lesson(s)

Working with metallic inks can always be difficult, but not for Ambient Inks. I mean these guys kill it. The registration is on point and I have never seen anything short of perfection come from them.

I was also struggling with a way to get sufficient contrast and I love French's Nightshift Blue, and I wanted to retain that color. At first I went darker because, well, who doesn't like dark colors with a pop of gold? Ambient countered by recommending a lighter flood of the blue and man am I happy they know what they are doing. It showed up just the way I was hoping it would. ”
