Arial or Helvetica?

Usually, I’m not one to get all juiced up about Web quizzes, especially as there seems to be a new one forwarded to me every other week. No, I really don’t care which Buffy the Vampire Slayer character I’m most like, nor do I care what % b*tch I am.

But give me a Web-based quiz that actually helps make the day go by a little faster AND challenges my knowledge of fonts, and I’m there… which is why I recommend iliveonyourvisits.com’s little type quiz “Arial or Helvetica?”

Not convinced it’s worth your time? Consider this: the quiz’s author included Univers > Helvetica > Arial as on his “About Me” page. ‘Nuf said, if you ask me.

BTW, for those interested in comparing scores… I earned 9/10. Identifing fonts has never been my bag.

(And, if you’re dying to know, I’m guessing (without an official score to go by) that I’m probably most like Anya and, on average, 60% b*tch.)

Dude! I suck: 6 of 10! but you know... my monitor is calibrated for quality typography, so... arial looks more like Helvetica all the time.

I got 7 out of 10. Pretty pathetic. What;s even worse is that my girlfriend who's only begun to study type got 9/10. Time to do some studying.

9/10. it's the caps that makes it tricky.

The Helvetica lowercase 'a' is unmistakable.

8 of 10, missed both words in all caps.

I think I might like to have "The Helvetica 'a' is unmistakable" on my tombstone.

8/10. The caps suck. You pretty much guess 'Microsoft' was in helvetica just because it's a trick. a trick, i tell you!

9/10 for me. Again the caps are the tricky ones. Has anyone got a perfect score yet?

9/10. The Arial "t" is very ugly as is the "r."

7 out of 10. Can I blame the aliasing? (Is that even how you spell 'aliasing' ... damn!).
