seriouSeries No. 3

After a four month hiatus seriouSeries returns! For our third installment we will explore how some Chicago-based web fiends have taken advantage of the web to become on-line entrepreneurial moguls and tycoons — in their own, deserving way.

Jim Coudal of Coudal Partners / Photoshop Tennis / Jewelboxing, Jason Fried of 37 Signals / Signal vs. Noise / Basecamp, Naz Hamid from Gapers Block / Absenter and Jake Nickell, Jacob DeHart and Jeffrey Kalmikoff of Skinnycorp / Threadless / Yayhooray will all reveal the secrets to their internet fame and fortune. If they don’t, I do plan to make them fess up in an unapologetical questioning session following their own presentations.

Some facts about the event.

When › Thursday, April 29 of 2004 around 6:30 pm
Where › At Coudal’s place located at: 400 North May Street in Chicago, Illinois

There is room for up to 40-50 people this time, so it will be slightly different — in a good way — from the previous, smaller seriouSeries.

If you would like to attend simply send me an email.

UPDATE, 04/05: We have reached our attendee limit. Sorry. Check back closer to the date of the event to see if somebody dropped and won’t be able to make it, leaving some spots open.

And if all this wasn’t enough, all of our guests will give away some fine prizes to four lucky winners. Including and limited to: A Jewelboxing system and a hand-screened Field-Tested books poster, a one-year subscription to Basecamp, poster, pins and other ephemera from Gapers Block and a $50.00 certificate for threadless.com. How cool is that? Very cool. See you then!

Sure would be nice if I lived in Chicago right now. Alas, I won't make it.

35 people have signed up, that means only 10 more to reach 45… we still need room to fit all the speakers.

I can't believe there's still spots left. Where's the love? I'd be there if I could.

Ok, that's it. Room's full. A week or so before the event we will confirm all participants' intentions to see if some drop out and there is some more room.

Thank you all for your interest!

Question!

I'm not from around Chicago by any means -- is there parking at or near this place? I'm going to leave from Ohio early tomorrow, hit up my hotel, and then make a trek back into Chicago.

I don't want to end up parking in the drink, so any info would be great!

Sam, rumor has it that there is ample parking in the street near Coudal's office.*

Heheh -- I guess I'll find out when I get there. I'm bringing plenty of money in the non-plastic variety, just in case.*

Disclaimer: If Sam's Mini becomes the property of the City of Chicago, he may need to take up residence under one of said city's bridges.

From last-minute cancellations there are 3-4 spots open if anyone doesn't have plans for tonight and would like to hang out with a bunch of web-geeks… cool web geeks that is.

First come first serve.

And thanks to Coudal for the lovely announcement.
