Qs / Vol. 21 / September 8 - September 14

The top 15 out of a 27-quip week.

A = Authors | C = Community

C / No. 14 / David / A little type humour.

C / No. 13 / Kai / The problems arise when a brand gets caught up in it’s own inconsistent brand messaging.

A / No. 16 / Armin / Barack Obama: The Nike Air Force One shoe by Jimm Lasser.

A / No. 29 / Armin / For the record: Font or Typeface?

A / No. 21 / Armin / Paradoxy Products, “Things that tickle the psyche.” With an interrobang for a logo to boot!

A / No. 25 / Armin / One-Track Mind a book that “contains photographs, taken all over the world, of objects that are reminiscent of breasts.”

C / No. 17 / Plamen / “I think design is a lifetime experience, it’s an everyday labor. It’s like brushing your teeth every morning, but harder.” Seven days make a week — graphic design everyday.

C / No. 15 / Niki / Ever wonder what toothpaste looks like on the inside?

C / No. 22 / Ahrum Hong / Color perception tests make me happy.

A / No. 13 / Armin / Pretty diagram comparing giant planes. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. [Via ffffound]

A / No. 26 / Armin / Testing the international postal system: Riitta Ikonen sent all sorts of weird stuff, in 100 A6 postcards, through the mail to see if it would go through, including a copper pipe with scratched address. [Via Design You Trust]

C / No. 20 / Verena / I saw this remarkable website that addresses the rules in fashion and design in a real funny way. Seeing that rules in general are dictated to us on a daily level, www.ridiculousdesignrules.com is making a mock of this habit. The website is a definite laugh but also very insightful in their articles about the newest findings in and around design. It is not just an insider tip for designers, fashion victims and artists but for everyone. I think it would be interesting for you to mention it on your starting page so other people can check it out. It is really ridiculously funny :)

A / No. 24 / Armin / Does Virgin have the most diversified brand extensions? Let’s see… Virgin Galactic, Virgin Wine, Virgin Spa. Yes, yes they do.

A / No. 29 / Armin / For the record: Font or Typeface?

C / No. 21 / Mike Williams / A student design contest to brand the USA.
