Letters on America Book

One of our favorite books around UnderConsideration’s headquarters is Ed’s Letters on America, a persistently addictive collection of Fella’s work and polaroid snapshots of the typography in our environment. Before Ed had a web site, this was one of the few printed objects that showcased some of his work too.

Alphabet Catalog

A slightly different take on gathering lettering — specifically the 26 letters that make up most of the lettering — is Post Typography’s An Exhibition of Hand-Drawn Lettering and Experimental Typography. Curated and designed for Artscape, Alphabets gathered the work of “48 artists and designers [that] conceived and interpreted the alphabet in surprising and inventive ways, ranging from graceful and polished to witty and unconventional.” The results can be seen in the catalog, or in the traveling exhibition, currently hoisted in Seattle.
