This edition is inspired by the arrival of the 2011 Brand New Awards book on American soil from its printing in China. It’s still a few days before arrival at UCllc headquarters but it’s coming. Coating ice cream bars in a fudge of sexy, Bardot is a line of high-end ice creams, most covered in Belgian chocolate, and adorned with all sorts of luscious patterns. Designed by the San Francisco office of Landor the identity makes no excuses for its sensuous approach, from the lips that serve as the logo to the imagery on their presentation video. But let’s not kid ourselves, the sexiest thing here is simply Belgian-chocolate-covered-ice-cream; you can put a toad on its logo and I would still it. Sexy helps though. [More + Store].

Located in the high-end Leblon neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, Balans is a training studio offering everything from pilates to yoga for a young, healthy crowd. Named and designed by local firm TUUT, this flexible (get it?) identity comes in a variety of configurations that reflect the movements of its customers — set in a lovely, thin stencil wordmark. The color palette and photography makes this place almost as sexy as the Bardot ice cream bars — perhaps there is a case to be made for some brand crossover here. [More]
