To start the month, some random bits from the world of identity.
1. London 2012 Logo is Racist
The secretary general of Iran’s National Olympic Committee has filed a formal complaint with the International Olympic Committee to get rid of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games logo and to confront its designers because the logo spells Zion, which means Jerusalem, which means the games are a pro-Israeli, anti-Irani conspiracy. ESPN has the story.
Thanks to Yotam Hadar for the tip.
2. Melbourne (Again!)
In January we brought you the Chinese version of City of Melbourne. Now, Norway wants in on the plagiarizing action with this logo for Muligheter (“Opportunities” in Norwegian), a campaign about education, job and career in the county of Møre og Romsdal. In the words of Chris Crocker: Leave the City of Melbourne logo alone!
Thanks to Aleksander Rist Holmen for the tip.
3. Alternate NFL Playoff Identity Proposals
Michael Lin, designer at Landor, presents his own proposals for the new scheme of the NFL Playoffs identity that just went into effect this year as the NFL implemented Landor’s work.
Thanks to H. Thomas Adjemian for the tip.
