Self-Printing

It’s a triumph when a designer can create a solution with a high-end appearance that isn’t expensive or difficult to produce. The identity system Sciencewerk created for indonesian company Prameya can mostly be produced in-house with a rubber stamp on readily available and affordable paper. Only the flocking-printed envelopes have to be printed and even those are available on demand. Chalk this one up as a victory.

Project Description

Prameya is an Indonesian based independent interior design firm. The aim for the project is to create an identity kit that is flexible — it has to be adaptable and not dependent on one paper— — , and it must be affordable. Kraft paper families are very suitable for this project due to their high availability and they are relatively cheaper than any imported paper stocks. The paper comes with 3 basic colors — black, grey, or standard brown — which can be mixed and matched for the folder, business card, envelope, bookmark or the thank you post card. For items such the envelope, bookmark, and business card, we use a rubber stamp in white or black ink for flexibility. For the proposal folder, we use velvet flocking that can be printed on demand.

Production Lesson(s)

The challenge was to create a set identity that is flexible, available on demand, affordable, able to be mixed and matched, and yet unique. This is when the traditional rubber stamp with white or black ink and the use of affordable materials such as Kraft Paper families comes in handy. Flocking print adds exclusivity to the appearance.”
