Divine Mag 001: What It Takes

Production Method

Jillian Adel

HP Envy 7640

The inaugural issue of Divine is both a subject matter exploration and a production exploration as the designer challenged the content and the process—the lessons learned are sure to inform subsequent issues. The gold paper for the cover is a great way to make a home- or office-printed publication look more interesting and as if it had higher production cost.

Project Description

Divine was born out of a desire to explore the intersection of art, sexuality, and self love within a safe and loving environment. The first installment, What It Takes, uses photography, lettering, and prose to talk about how our intangible identity changes with our physical self.

Production Lesson(s)

I printed this piece completely on my own at home. I learned that having completely control over the printing of your piece means higher cost since ink is so expensive. I also learned to embrace imperfections. ”
