The new logo is rooted in the idea of finding. […] The new logo is comprised of five individual markers, inspired by pins on a map. The five markers come together to form the shape of a star, signifying the power of the community – CoStar Group’s highly valuable network of people, information, and insights that help to drive progress in the industry. The star in the logo is tilted forward to signify this progress and momentum.

The old logo looked like a cheap real estate agency and the typography was amusingly bad. The new logo has, by contrast, a remarkably nice new wordmark in a lovely and sturdy serif. The icon shows a star. It's okay. Logos with stars that appear in the counterspace of an icon are somewhat typical and plentiful so there is no big surprise there. I do have to praise their choice of black. It's so refreshing to see a corporation have a black logo.
