I think sending out a greeting for the new year is a super thoughtful gesture, probably because it takes me until about June to send out Christmas thank-yous. This message is especially genuine; a wish for health and happiness sent to close friends and family. I really like that the gift becomes more personal with interaction. Dirty interaction.

Both Adrienne and Joshua are designers. But Adrienne had recently graduated as a Holistic Nutrition Educator from Bauman College as well. While studying she was introduced to a phrase we both were drawn to: “Eat well. Be well.” We used it as the basis of our New Year’s gift to friends and family. We added “drink”, “make”, and “sleep.” We reset “well” as “we11” to include the upcoming year, then printed the design on a white tea towel. As the year goes on it is a barometer of wellness. The dirtier it gets, the better job you’ve done.

Make sure you know what mesh screen you are working with. I should have known better, having screen printed for years. But I forgot to ask. The first run of towels we tried printing with Jacquard’s #121 Solar Gold ink. It clogged the screen after one pull. So we had to Plan-B and go back to traditional Speedball inks. We ended up mixing a nice green with left over ink containers.
