Project Description

"Map No. I - The Northern Sky" is an accurate depiction of the northern sky in all its glorious details. The artwork is silkscreen printed (each single print is hand-pulled) on solid-colored Gmund Color System, 200g/m2. The run is limited to 500 pieces, handprinted and numbered.

Though we have just recently started silkscreen printing (or serigraphy as some might call it), it is already one of the most versatile printing techniques to us. We just love the tactile aspect of every step in the process, from handling the screen to mixing the inks to pulling the squeegee. One thing we find deeply intriguing is the possibility of printing opaque colors on dark paper stock.

Production Lesson(s)

A lesson we have learned: if you deeply care about the process and want your result to reflect a certain quality, you have to invest time and passion, and you have to invest it gladly. Make mistakes on the way; if you care to make mistakes and learn from them, great things will happen.”
