COAST Anthology — a collection of 53 Singaporean writers’ works with the same title — conjures the warmth, texture, and color of the beach with bold ultramarine, kraft paper, and a rippling title treatment that integrates the fore edge of the book into the cover design.

Project Description
The form of the book was treated in accordance with its title, visualising the front cover as a body of land and the fore edge as the meeting point with the sea. Appropriating the fore edge of the volume as part of the cover design and allowing the title to bleed from the front to the side, part of the word 'COAST' also appears rippled, like its reflection off the sea.The graphics were mirrored on to the back cover to reiterate the reflective concept. This less than conventional approach, together with the use of a single bold ultramarine, helps the publication to stand out on the bookshelf. Finally, brown kraft paper was selected for its raw and gritty touch which call to mind the warmth, texture and colour of the beach, which complements the ultramarine as well.

For the graphic on the fore edge to begin at a precise area, we need to take into account the thickness of the glue on the spine as well.
