Project Description

The letterpressed hang-tag serves as a pocket used to promote new products, the brand, or share little surprises with customers. The 4 cards inside share details about Grady Mac's quality denim, and new styles for Men's and Women's jeans. Those cards can change with the seasons to advertise other styles, sales, or promotions. Grady Mac jeans are hand-stitched just south of Nashville, Tennessee. The denim comes from North Carolina. The artwork reflects Grady's American-made style. Custom filigree was hand-drawn to surround the type on the front and back. The sketch was scanned and turned into smooth bézier strokes for the final art. I was careful to use a vibrant orange and no distressing to balance the antique linework and type.

Production Lesson(s)

Originally I thought it would be too expensive to create a custom envelope, but that wasn't the case here. It would have cost more to manipulate an existing envelope to look the way I wanted, plus some special features would have been lost. At the last minute before the die was made, I increased the length of the back to reduce a gap on the side where the envelope closes (I was too generous here when I first designed the dieline). I was worried about tight registration being that some artwork is so close to the border. Henry + Co. really nailed it. I couldn't be happier with that printer. Ya'll need to check 'em out. ”
