The Letterpress Division of A Fine Press
Designer, printer, and jazz musician Matthew Wengerd of A Fine Press created Lettering|Letterpress—a fine art series featuring a different illustrator/letter for each print—as an opportunity to expand his printing repertoire. Hand-lettered by Scott Biersack, Livin the Dream, is the first in the series and gave Wengerd his first opportunity to print foil on French Paper.

Project Description
Like a lot of people, I wanted to start 2015 with a purposeful, consistent project. Hoping to gain some discipline and maybe a little exposure, I set off to find a subject and was immediately drawn to the idea of featuring some incredible hand-lettering artists.Thus, Lettering|Letterpress was born and v. 1.1 features the work of Phoenix-based letterer/designer Scott Biersack. It was a pleasure to work with Scott, whose bold, energetic style I find compelling.
This project also presents a chance for me to introduce myself as a printer-for-hire. To-date, I've focused on production of client jobs for my custom stationery company, but wanted to open up to the possibilities of working with designers far greater than I. That's where the Letterpress Division of A Fine Press comes in.
