This series of posters uses abstract imagery—via close-up photography of artistic mediums—to reference both the exhibition title and common threads between the diverse artists featured in the exhibition. The outcome reinforces the title and touches on parallels between the participants in the show.

Project Description

Identity and set of three posters designed for the RMIT Visual Arts Graduate exhibition, titled "If You Touch It, You'll Get Dirty." Abstract images of 'dirty' art related mediums were used to visually represent the exhibition title, and to show the variety of mediums in which the students work. The posters were packaged with a hand-stamped belly band for the opening night.

Production Lesson(s)

Working with a large and diverse group of creatives was a challenge in itself, and then on top of that the budget for the job was really tight as well. We had lots of fun in the beginning stages, and spent a lot of time on experimentation and developing different concepts, and we found trying to represent so many different types of artists and mediums was really challenging. In the end, by focussing on the diverse materials that had been used in the artist's works, we found that the thing that originally seemed to separate the group of students was in a way what they had in common, and it also tied in well with the title of the exhibition.”
