Project Description

Aitor and Nerea contacted us in late 2014 and told us that they want us to design their wedding invitation. And, at the first meeting, they said that their marriage would be unconventional: a casual and elegant party. Something like a cocktail.

We worked on different ideas that represented that concept and finally we selected the one we show below: a Martini glass with a slice of lemon (to represent the cocktail) and a heart (to symbolize the union). We opted for this proposal because, in addition that it conveys the concept that we thought it had to transmit, both elements fit perfectly. So, we took the sketches we had as a starting point to draw the illustration, we write below the names of the couple and discreetly we included the necessary information for the day (date, time, location and contact information) on the back.

When we had to choose the paper for the invitation we selected a 300 grams and white Conqueror Connoisseur for the front and a 240 grams Pop September Poppy (red) for the back that go duplexed. And for the printing, except for the heart that is embossed, we opted for the letterpress.

Production Lesson(s)

With this project we realized again about the importance of listening to the wise advices of experienced printers. Our idea, when we sent the wedding invitation to production, was that the heart had to be embossed and that both papers (the Conqueror Connoisseur and the Arjowiggins Pop Set) had to be duplexed. The idea of the letterpress, which gave the work another sensibility, was their recommendation.”
