Good Done Daily took a unique approach with their business cards by creating a couple of alternatives where the url can be customized based on the conversation that drives the business cards exchange—consider me curious.

Project Description

For our business cards we set up a custom URL shortener. We found that in a lot of the conversations where we'd give out a business card, we'd also want to reference a specific project of ours, another webpage, or sometimes just directions.

In the same conversational spirit, each URL is structured to make a complete sentence. The question "Where is your studio?" is answered by the URL gdd.is/here (which redirects to a Google map showing our studio.) When we were part of a panel on design, we let people know that gdd.is/speaking. We're particularly proud of the book cover design work we do, and love to let people know that gdd.is/onthecover. Meeting a client at the best taco truck in Detroit? gdd.is/havintacos.

Production Lesson(s)

We were headed to New York for a conference and some meetings with clients, and had the plates ordered for our business cards. There was a shipping delay, and we ended up at a friend's letterpress studio very late the night before our flight—€”just getting enough cards made for the inevitable new connections we would make.

When we got back, we took the plates to our friends at Berci Press and said take your time, no rush. They did a far better job than we could quickly do, and while we love getting our hands dirty in the letterpress studio sometimes it's better to just trust the professional printers.”
