Designing and producing a book is always challenging, the amount of pages and how to avoid getting stale from beginning to end is only the beginning. Add to that a few challenging techniques and you surely have an adventure in your hands. Such was the case with Stefan G. Bucher who learned a few things himself while on press:
On raw board the force necessary to deboss a big old title will obliterate any fine type on the same die. And of course, I had brilliantly placed the two in close proximity with the small OJO-NIDO underneath the giant "Juan Uslé." After a few futile tests we decided to split the die and run two separate die strikes. That did the trick. Also learned: Black foil embossing on raw board looks like a comp. Gray is much nicer.
Without a doubt the efforts put in are worth the result, as this exhibition catalog is a pleasure to hold and share.

Interesting!
Thanks for sharing what you learned while doing this job, Stefan!
This project is luscious. In a Gelato-esque way. I want eat it. My favorite of all the ones you've posted here.
Many thanks to our ADV × 3 partners
