Only a lucky few current and prospective clients received a set of these gorgeous New Year’s cards. What a delightful way to drop clients a note and let them know that the 13 in 2013 is not necessarily a bad omen.

Project Description

Every January, Matter Strategic Design creates a piece for all current and prospective clients with the same design objectives — it has to be smart, beautiful, highlight the new year and be something useful so that the recipient will keep it, and therefore the brand, top of my mind.

Challenging the notion that 13 is an unlucky number, this year's piece contains lucky notecards for you to create your own fortunes over the months ahead. Each package consists of 13 foil-stamped cards and 13 foil-stamped envelopes all housed within a resealable, die-cut and foil-stamped box.

Production Lesson(s)

Any time you're doing a self-funded promotional piece, finding creative ways to stretch a dollar are a must. By keeping the artwork (the circle) common across all elements we were able to reuse the same foil die for all 13 cards, the envelopes and the box. A simple change in foil colour gave us infinite options without incurring the cost of producing additional dies.”
